Our Philosophy

At Holy Cross Lutheran School, your family is our family. Our teachers, pastors and staff work together—and with you—to ensure your child develops confidence and grows not only academically, but also physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. In all of their activities, our students learn to approach life with a Biblical worldview.

We don’t simply educate classes of students—we get to know each of our students, as well as their family members, because developing these relationships helps us meet each student’s individual needs. In everything we do, we cultivate an environment in which our students reflect their love for their Savior, Jesus, and kindness for each other through activities that build character, problem-solving, teamwork and communication. We also foster connections with our early learning center, with the members of our church, with students and families in Lutheran grade schools in several area counties, with Lakeside Lutheran High School, and with our broader community.

Our Approach

Holy Cross serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade. We are located on a 12-acre campus in Madison that includes all new facilities—a church, school and early learning center—as well as lots of space for outdoor play and learning. We offer a well-rounded academic curriculum with strengths in the arts, science, technology, math, religion and other core disciplines. Our classrooms are flexible spaces that facilitate learning in multiple styles. Our teachers blend instructional, experiential and technological learning that encourages and empowers our students to think critically, investigate, organize their thoughts, work in teams, and expand their creativity.

Our Opportunities

A signature of our Holy Cross educational experience is that we provide opportunities for our students to gather across all ages and grades and become a true community. Students and their families can try new activities or become more involved, whether through sports or academic teams, service and volunteer work, musical performances or school projects, and on- and off-campus family events and field trips that enrich our students’ education and strengthen their friendships.

Our Students’ Success

Our unique focus on faith, family, academics and opportunity means that, when our students graduate and enter high school—whether at Lakeside Lutheran High School, another Christian high school, or any of the area public schools—they are equipped to excel in the classroom and as citizens of their school and community.

Our students regularly score above the national average on standardized tests, and our alumni enjoy successful, rewarding careers in fields such as business, education, law, healthcare, science, public service and others. One of the greatest testaments to the strength of our educational experience is that many of our current students or recent graduates are children of our alumni!
