Pastoral Call News
On Sunday, November 20, the Holy Cross Voters extended a Call to Rev. Matthew Moldstad to serve as our Associate Pastor. Currently, Pastor Moldstad serves as co-pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Mankato, Minnesota. He has served at Peace Lutheran for 5 years. Prior to that he served at Peace Lutheran in Kissimmee, Florida for 5 years. Please keep Pastor Moldstad, his wife, Joni and their 5 sons, as well as Holy Cross and Peace Lutheran in your prayers as he deliberates where best to serve. We trust that the Holy Spirit will guide Pastor Moldstad in his decision process as he determines where he can best serve Jesus' blood-bought lambs and sheep. If you would like to reach out to him and let him know you're praying for him, his email is: firstname.lastname@example.org
Call Acknowledgement Letter
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Grace and peace to you in the name of Christ our King! On November 20th, I received a divine call from the voting members of Holy Cross Lutheran in Madison to serve you as an assistant pastor. I am honored to receive this call and look forward to hearing more about the ministry of Holy Cross. At this time I now have two calls, one to my current church, Peace Lutheran in North Mankato, and one to your church, Holy Cross Lutheran in Madison. I am reminded of our Savior’s words to his disciples in John 15:16a, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide.” Yes, it is God who chooses us to carry out the specific work he has given us to do. I ask that he would direct me to the place where he would have me serve at this time. Please pray for me and my family during this deliberation process. I will pray for the ministry of your church as well.
In His Service,
Pastor Matt Moldstad

Material Aid for Ukraine Thank You
The response from the congregation for material aid for Ukraine was overwhelming. We didn't know how much to expect but we'll now have more boxes to send to Ukraine. We will inventory the items, pack it all in boxes to send to the shipping company in Chicago. We'll keep the congregation informed of the progress of the shipment. Thank you for your generous response.

During the months of November and December we're blessed to be able to have the assistance of Pastor Gene Kock and Pastor Tom Heyn, who will help during our pastoral vacancy. Pastor Kock will teach Wednesday 10 am Bible Class, help with hospital and home-bound calls and he and Pastor Heyn will help Pastor Bartels in the preaching schedule. Pastor Kock is a very active retired pastor living in Sun Prairie. He and his wife, Sylvia, are members of Peace Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. Pastor Heyn serves as our synod's Director of World Outreach. He and his wife, LaRue, are members of Holy Cross. Thank you so much to Pastors Kock and Heyn for helping us during this transition period. We also want to thank all who, behind the scenes, are stepping up in various ways to help get the necessary work done during this vacancy. Next Thoroughly Lutheran Class
On the streets of Nicaea in 325 AD, even common shopkeepers were discussing the nature of Christ, while the bishops debated the teachings of Arius down the street. Today, many Lutherans in America know less about the person of Christ than did those uneducated early Greek Christians. The doctrine that Jesus Christ has both a divine nature and a human nature and the relationship between these two natures have troubled the church throughout its history. Major Protestant bodies have ignored the clear biblical teaching and made up their own theology about Christ to placate their reason. These false teachings can lure people to embrace a false faith. To address this issue, Dr. Arthur Eggert will conduct a six-week Bible study entitled “The Person of Christ” beginning on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Classes will start at 6:30 pm and can be attended in person at Peace Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie or via livestreaming on Vimeo. The textbook will be Christ, a book from the People’s Bible Teachings series, available from NPH. If you plan to attend in person, please email email@example.com and tell us who will be coming so that we can print up enough materials. Visit the Online Courses page on www.interrapaxlp.com for more details and information updates.
