Prayer for Lent

Lord Jesus, our sacrificial Passover Lamb, graciously accept our imperfect praise for the perfect sacrifice you made for our sins. You suffered all so that we might inherit every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. As we follow you in spirit to Calvary, help us gladly bear whatever cross of suffering you choose to lay on us in this life. Constantly remind us of the cross you bore for our salvation. Let our crosses in life serve to remind us of our need for the great sacrifice you offered on Calvary for us and for all. Amen. (taken from Seasonal Prayer for Lent from Meditations)

Singing in Church

The Church Council resolved at it's February meeting to continue a gradual reintroduction of singing into our church services.  As more and more members are being vaccinated, and the CDC is no longer listing masked, socially distanced singing as high risk, the Church Council is eager to work toward the goal of the congregation singing a couple of hymns for Easter!  Here's the plan:

  • February 28:  After the announcements, sing "Praise God From Whom All Blessing Flow."

  • March 7:  Before the Benediction sing a hymn

  • March 14:  Before the Benediction sing a hymn

  • March 21:  After the sermon sing a hymn

  • March 28:  After the sermon sing a hymn

  • April 4: Easter:  Sing a hymn before and after the sermon

Camp Rise

Sunday, July 11 - Friday, July 16

Camp Rise will be at Camp LuWiSoMo, near Wild Rose, WI

Go to www.camprise.org to find details about the event as well as digital copies of the poster, registration, health forms and what to bring form. With the ever changing status of COVID-19, it is impossible to predict exactly how things will be this summer. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and will implement appropriate social distancing practices as needed. These practices may include having students sit with their own cabins at lunch, wearing masks at times, limiting the number of cabins in the shower house at a time, etc. As Camp draws closer we will have a better idea if/what adjustments will need to be made.

Lakeside Lutheran Grand Event Fundraiser - Covid Style

Each year, Lakeside reaches out to local businesses who so generously donate items for our annual auction. This year, many small business owners are, understandably, not able to donate.

That’s why your Lakeside Lutheran Grand Event committee is asking all Federation churches and schools to fill in this year. Might your school, church, men’s Bible study, women’s group, or another group consider donating an item, a basket, or even funds for us to assemble a basket in your name?

  • Our sign up genius page (bit.ly/GEbaskets) has lots of ideas to get you thinking. Please sign up so we know we can count on you.

  • Please deliver the baskets to Lakeside by March 5—or contact us to arrange pick-up by emailing grandevent@llhs.org.

P.S. By the way, if you are interested in attending this year's open house event that will be held at The Hay Loft (the barn venue out behind Dave's Turf and Marine on East Gate Dr. near Watertown), keep an eye on llhs.org/grandevent where the link to purchase tickets is live and can be purchased now.

Next Thoroughly Lutheran Series: From the 1st to the 21st Century

You know about Peter, Paul, and Luther. But what about those other people like St. Jerome, St. Augustine, Joan of Arc, John Calvin, and C.F.W. Walther? And where did all those popes come from anyway? How the church got from the time of the apostles to today is a fascinating story. It involves Atilla the Hun, throwing ambassadors out of windows, what really happened at the Council of Nicaea, and things that are really strange. Dr. Eggert is teaching, but he promises that there will be no deep theology in this class. What is even better, the book for the course (Christian, Lutheran, Confessional) only costs $5.00. So, get out of your house for a few evenings before the walls close in on you and join an interesting romp through history. The classes will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursdays at Peace beginning March 11 and at 6:30 on Sundays at Eastside beginning March14, and you can switch between them if you like. There will be only 8 sessions so that we will be done by mid-May. Please sign-up by calling 608-837-5346 or emailing church.office@peacewels.org.
